Visiting

Information for patients and visitors of HGMH

March 4, 2024

Family and loved ones play an essential role in the emotional, physical and mental well-being of our patients. We continue to work to support visitation appropriate to the ongoing pandemic situation in our region. We regularly revisit our visitation guidelines and adjust them to reflect the current evidence around COVID-19 transmission, Public Health recommendations and internal infection control risks.

  • Essential Care Partners and visitors are required to wear a mask, covering the nose and chin at all times while visiting.
  • The number of people welcomed at the bedside at any one time will be determined in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional team. In situations where there are shared room, this negotiation will include the other patients and their family. To ensure safety, considerations will also be given to physical limitations of the space.
  • There may be interruptions to family and guest presence to protect the privacy rights of the other patients or to maintain the safety, security, and health of patients and staff.
  • Essential Care Partners and visitors coming to the hospital are required to self-screen for symptoms before arriving and should stay home if feeling unwell, unless emergency care is required. This will help prevent future outbreaks.

We ask that you please respect these guidelines, as they have our patient's best interest in mind. For questions around visiting a patient or being designated as an Essential Care Partner, please contact Chantal Mageau-Pinard at 613-525-2222, extension 4330.
