Masks Remain at HGMH
MASKS REMAIN AT HGMH
“Your safety is our priority” said Robert Alldred-Hughes, HGMH President and Chief Executive Officer. On June 8, 2022, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health announced that provincial masking requirements in hospitals and other indoor settings will expire as of June 11. Masking in hospitals is strongly recommended to protect our most vulnerable and our health care providers, and HGMH has made the decision to continue with masking requirements at this time. HGMH will not be changing the current masking policies and procedures, which apply to visitors, patients (as tolerated), and all staff and physicians.
“Our organization has very recently worked through two lengthy outbreaks on our inpatient units. The increased demand on all staff working through outbreaks is not one we wish to repeat”. “In the interest of keeping our patients, staff and visitors safe, HGMH will maintain the current requirements to mask within the hospital” said Alldred-Hughes.
This means even after June 11, anyone entering the hospital will continue to wear a medical-grade mask which we continue to provide to anyone entering HGMH.
HGMH officials will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and all infection control measures that are in place.
