HGMH Announces New CEO
Alexandria, Ontario, (December 20, 2021) - After an extensive search process, the Board of Directors is extremely pleased to announce that Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) has appointed a new hospital CEO. Robert Alldred-Hughes joins HGMH after more than 18 years of service with 13 in an executive leadership role at the Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC), which is a multisite Acute Care Hospital situated in Huntsville and Bracebridge. He most recently held the position of Vice President - Operations and Chief Human Resources Officer.
The board of directors began an executive search process for the hospital's new leader when Michael Cohen announced early September he was leaving his post. The board of directors would like to thank Kim Woods as the interim CEO while maintaining her role as Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Executive until Rob assumes his duties on April 19, 2022. Board Chair Frank Wetering said, “Rob has such an approachable genuine personality, along with strong leadership skills and is ready to help grow our Hospital to ensure a sustainable future and meet the strategic requirements of Glengarry.”
Having attained many notable degrees and certificates; he is a Certified Health Care Executive with the Canadian College of Health Care Leaders, he has a Master of Human Resource Management degree from York University Toronto, a Health Law Certificate from Osgood Law School Toronto, to name a few. Most recently Robert was appointed to the provincial wide initiative in the fight against COVID-19 participating on an Ontario Hospital Association vaccination advisory group.
Upon accepting his new role Alldred-Hughes said, “I am impressed from what I have come to know about the people and the community that support HGMH. That is why choosing to accept the exciting role of HGMH’s next President and CEO was an easy decision. I have come to understand that the care at HGMH is provided by people that believe in quality, safe patient care at every encounter and delivered in a way that includes the patient and family as partners in care, which aligns with my own personal beliefs for the delivery of health care. I’m excited to get to work and meet all of the people that help support the vision of HGMH to be recognized as a leader in the delivery, promotion and integration of health care services that meets the health care needs of current and future residents locally and close to home. As our family looks forward to moving to the area, we are excited to be a part of this vibrant community.”
