Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Receives Ministry Approval for CT Scanner Acquisition

Alexandria, ON – Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) is thrilled to announce that it has received approval from the Ministry of Health to acquire a computerized tomography scan (CT Scan). This pivotal development marks a significant advancement in our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community.

A CT Scanner is an advanced imaging device that uses X-ray techniques and computer technology to create detailed images of the body. This technology is essential for diagnosing a wide range of conditions, from cancers and cardiovascular diseases to traumatic injuries and infections. With the addition of a CT Scanner, HGMH will be able to offer faster, more accurate diagnoses, leading to better treatment outcomes and improved patient care.

“Having a CT Scanner on-site will dramatically enhance our diagnostic capabilities,” said Robert Alldred-Hughes, President & CEO of Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital. “This approval from the Ministry is a crucial first step, but now we need the support of our community to turn this approval into reality. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference and bring us closer to our goal.”

The Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation will be planning a series of fundraising events and initiatives to engage the community and encourage donations. Contributions can also be made directly through the Foundation’s website or at the hospital. The success of this campaign is vital, as the availability of a CT Scanner will significantly reduce wait times for scans, eliminate the need for patients to travel to distant facilities, and ensure timely access to essential diagnostic services. As capital equipment like the CT Scanner is not funded by the government, the generous support of the community is needed to help bring this life-saving technology to the hospital.

“We are excited to embark on this fundraising journey and are confident in the generosity and support of our community,” said Pierre Vaillancourt, Foundation Chair. “Together, we can equip our hospital with the tools it needs to provide the highest standard of care.”
