A message from the President & CEO
Welcome to Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH). Since beginning my role as President & CEO in April 2022, I have been continually inspired by the dedication and passion of our staff, physicians, leaders, and volunteers. Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing outstanding care to every patient who walks through our doors.
At HGMH, we treat you like family. Our team will care for you with passion, accountability, compassion, and teamwork. Your safety and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. If your care needs cannot be met locally, we will ensure you are seamlessly connected to the services you require, without delay.
We are proud to share that in June 2024, HGMH was officially designated a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario. This prestigious designation recognizes our commitment to excellence in patient care. As a BPSO, we will continue implementing evidence-based best practices to further enhance the quality and safety of the care we provide.
This year is particularly special as we celebrate 60 years of providing healthcare services to our community. Since opening our doors in 1965, HGMH has been a cornerstone of care to the communities we serve. While much has changed in health care, one thing has remained constant: our steadfast dedication to our patients and their families.
As we reflect on the past six decades, we also look to the future. Our strategic priorities focus on quality & safety, people & culture, integration & standardization, and future planning for the betterment of health care delivery. The lessons of recent years have reinforced the importance of being prepared, adaptable, and resilient. By fostering strong partnerships and focusing on operational and financial stability, we are building a bright future for health care in our community.
Thank you for placing your trust in HGMH. We are honored to care for you and your loved ones and look forward to continuing to serve our community for years to come.
Sincerely,
Robert Alldred-Hughes
President and Chief Executive Officer

Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) provides acute care, 24-hour emergency services, outpatient services and rehabilitation to over 41,000 residents every year and is governed by a Board of Directors. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings of the Board as well as regular committee meetings. As volunteer directors, Board members are not paid for their services.
Our Board of Directors is accountable to the community our hospital serves, and is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the hospital by establishing and regularly reviewing the vision, mission, core values, and strategic objectives. The Board is also responsible for making sure that the hospital meets the healthcare needs of our community within the resources that are available to provide services.
HGMH believes that building an environment that fosters diversity and inclusion of all people regardless of matters such as race, colour, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, age, etc. is vital to enable us to provide equitable, quality care to our community.
Board members bring a wide range of skills and experience to their leadership role at our hospital. The Board seeks to ensure a balance among the skills and experience of our directors as a whole, while also considering the unique requirements of the corporation and ensuring diverse representation of our community.
